Though colors are slightly inconsistent, the picture is balanced with vibrant colors and deep black levels. Shadow delineation is sometimes nicely rendered, with good visual information in the darkest scenes. Contrast is mediocre, but the picture is sometimes pleasing. The anamorphic and letterbox aspect ratio measures 2.35:1. The Dolby® Digital encoded matrix Dolby Surround 2.0 soundtrack is of varying quality and is essentially undistinguished monaural and lacking in dynamic fidelity.

Colors are rich and vibrant, with good balance and deep blacks. Contrast and shadow delineation are nicely rendered. The picture has a bit of a hard edge, but overall imagery is pleasing. Edge enhancement is also evident, but never really distracts. The Dolby® Digital 5.1-channel soundtrack has been re-equalized for home listening. Despite a slightly muted character, the sonic presentation is of good fidelity and aggressive dimensional utilization. The soundstage is consistently wide and deep with ample split surround envelopment. The dialogue is somewhat of a letdown however, with compromised spatial integration. The music score is impressive-sounding, with a presence that penetrates the soundstage with a good low-end foundation. Viewed in component video, images are sharp and detailed with nicely rendered background definition. Contrast and shadow delineation are effectively engaging as well. Minor artifacts are apparent, and, occasionally, film grain is revealed, but this classic horror flick will surely please due to its overall solid quality. The DVD measures 1.78:1, anamorphic and letterbox. The DVD soundtrack is Dolby® Digital 1.0 mono. The fidelity is dated and the audio is compressed. Distortion is also prevalent. At reference level, the experience may be fatiguing due to the soundtrack's stridence. Nonetheless, background noise is remarkably low. • Theatrical trailer(s)

The DVD nicely renders sharpness and detail. Contrast and shadow detail are excellent with fine gradations in shade in the dark areas. The letterbox and anamorphic DVD aspect ratios are 1.85:1.
