[Brodie picks up a controller and continues a paused video game.] Renee: What are you doing? You promised me breakfast. Brodie: Breakfast, shmreakfast. Look at the score, for Christ's sake. It's only the second period and I'm up 12 to 2. Breakfasts come and go, Renee, but Hartford, "the Whale," they only beat Vancouver once, maybe twice in a lifetime.
[to T.S.] Brodie: You're gonna listen to me? To something I said? Hasn't it become abundantly clear during the tenure of our friendship that I don't know s**t?
Brodie: Listen, not a year goes by, not a year, that I don't hear about some escalator accident involving some bastard kid which could have easily been avoided had some parent--I don't care which one--but some parent conditioned him to fear and respect that escalator!
Shannon: I'm gonna f**k you up beyond repair!
Trivia:
Stan Lee can be seen looking to his left or right repeatedly while talking with Brodie. This is so he can see his cue cards - not being a trained actor, memorizing lines was very difficult. Jeremy London forgot his lines repeatedly.
This is the second film in Kevin Smith's intricately interconnected View Askewniverse series (the others being Clerks., Chasing Amy, Dogma and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back). The movies are all linked by characters, themes and events and each contains numerous references to the others.
The Henry Hudson T-shirt Brodie is seen wearing during the Segaboy scene is from Kevin Smith's old high school, Henry Hudson High in New Jersey.
When Jared Svenning pulls Roddy down and says "What the f*** is goin' on up there?" it is intended to be a reference to the line from Animal House (although in Animal House, the line is "down there" not "up there").
After failing to see the sailboat image, Ethan Suplee's character wanders over to the stage, and gives a frustrated wail while holding on to a frame. This is a parody of a scene in Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back, in which Chewbacca omits the same cry while holding on to a support strut.
