    abberration (of starlight):
    Apparent displacement in the direction of a star due to the earth's orbital motion.
     
    ablation:
    Fragmentation and vaporization of a meteorite upon entering the atmosphere.
     
    absolute magnitude:
    Apparent magnitude a star would have at a distance of 10pc.
     
    absolute zero:
    A temperature of -273°C (or 0 K), where all molecular motion stops.
     
    absorption spectrum:
    Dark lines superimposed on a continuous spectrum.
     
    accelerate:
    To change velocity; either to speed up, slow down, or change direction.
